Tony Allen

These works are mostly an attempt to combine what remains of the past, in both memory and time, with the jagged artifacts of surrealism. It is the juxtaposition of these elements that interests me.

There is always a constant battle, worked out within the limitations of the medium, between the beautiful and the ugly (rather like life itself). Mostly one side wins - thought not necessarily the most expected one - and when it does the piece 'works'. I just wish it would happen more often!
